Amazing Ornament of "Songket"
my first experience to see a beautiful collection of "Songket"
The most precious opportunity for me, after many time came to West Sumatra, I had the opportunity to visit this place..
Located at Pandai Sikek Village famous for wood carving & weaving handicraf centre production in West Sumatra .
When we called Pandai Sikek ( Pandai means Clever ), usually the thought is Songket. Yes, this place is already synonymous with Songket...Everybody would know.
and If we look at history, there is no definite time when songket began to be developed in Minangkabau or at Clever Sikek, but now songket has grown in Indonesia, normally used for official events, weddings, decoration on the walls of the house, even now developed by the designer famous designers in Indonesia and marketed abroad.
This picture I took directly from the site of manufacture of songket, ..,like the way makng batik by hand ..They done with meticulous patience and must have special expertise in weaving...need a special skills for that .
by a local woman , indirectly, the employer here to help them in income.
